On 17 March 2026, Peter Burke, the Republic of Ireland's Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, announced that Dublin is to become the home of a new international commercial arbitration hub serving the EMEA region. The announcement was made at the Irish Consulate in New York, with Bridget McCormack, President and Chief Executive Officer of the American Arbitration Association – International Centre for Dispute Resolution (“AAA - ICDR”), present alongside the Minister.
The ICDR, which operates as the international division of the AAA, is the world's largest provider of international dispute resolution services. The establishment of its EMEA hub in Dublin will be supported by a dedicated advisory board and a panel of Irish arbitrators appointed to handle international cases.
The Irish government has highlighted international arbitration as a central pillar of its strategy to attract and retain foreign direct investment, particularly from US-headquartered multinationals. The new hub is expected to reinforce Ireland's standing as a premier global business destination, offering an additional layer of institutional infrastructure for companies seeking to resolve cross-border commercial disputes within a reputable and well-regulated jurisdiction.
